JAMIE HAMILTON GRAHAM

Chief Jamie Graham was appointed Chief Constable of the Victoria Police Department, the 12th in its history, in January, 2009. He was previously the Police Chief of the Vancouver Police Department from 2002 to 2007.  Jamie served almost 35 years with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, holding a number of command, investigative and executive positions in British Columbia and Alberta. He has lectured extensively on leadership, security issues, crisis management, mental health and workplace wellness.

Chief Graham is an active member of local, Provincial, National and International Associations of Police Chiefs.  He has been involved in considerable committee work in support of these organizations and has been widely recognized for his advocacy work and efforts. He currently “Chairs” the Traffic Committee and the Ethics & Integrity Committee of the British Columbia Chiefs of Police (BCACP). He is also a member of the Canadian Assn of Chiefs of Police (CACP) Traffic and Ethics Committees. He is a Board member of the B.C. Schizophrenia Society (Victoria).

Chief Graham was a member of the Major Cities Chiefs Association (MCC), and previously was President of the BCACP and the Municipal Police Chiefs Assn. He was a member of the national Executive Committee of Criminal Intelligence Service Canada (CISC) and previously chaired their “Tier 1 Strategy” to combat outlaw motorcycle gangs (OMG).  Chief Graham has chaired the Gaming and Mental Health Committees of the BCACP and was their Representative on the Integrated Illegal Gaming Enforcement Team (IIGET) Committee.  He was a member of the Board of Governance for the Combined Forces Special Investigation Unit (formerly Organized Crime Agency of BC).  Chief Graham was heavily involved in the early security arrangements for the upcoming 2010 Winter Olympic games.

Chief Graham is a reliable and committed professional with a proven record of success.  He is well known for his reputation as a problem solver and is a popular lecturer and speaker.  He has been married to lawyer Gail Graham (not the golfer) for 25 years.
