The Focused Enforcement Team (FET), which is lead by an Inspector who reports directly to the Deputy Chief of Operations, is comprised of several units which include the:

  • Mountain Bike Team
  • Beat Team
  • Traffic Team
  • CRASH reconstruction team
  • VICOT team
  • Youth Out Reach Team
  • Community Resource Officer

Working closely with our Uniform Services Division (patrol), FET’s primary goal is to deal with all the challenges that come with policing a downtown city core such as; drug enforcement, alcohol enforcement, protests, special events, traffic safety/education, VIP escorts, business and resident liaison, and youth crime/outreach. The Vicpd, through our Focused Enforcement Team, works collaboratively with external stakeholder agencies such as Our Place, Street Link, and the Downtown Victoria Business Association, to find solutions to social issues including poverty, addiction and homelessness. Members are also cross trained in undercover surveillance techniques, which allow the team to work in a covert capacity when needed or in cooperation with other surveillance units such as Strike Force or the Regional Street Crime Unit.
