Island-Wide Counterattack Nets Several Violations and Impaired Drivers


Victoria BC – On Saturday night VicPD officers participated in the Island-Wide Counterattack initiative from Victoria to Port Hardy which resulted in several tickets and 24 hour suspensions.

During two separate roadblocks of two hours each VicPD officers handed out 65 tickets for a variety of offences including; no drivers licence, no insurance, driving contrary to restrictions and prohibited driving. In addition, seven 24 hour suspensions were issued

Drivers are reminded that during the Christmas season there will be increased roadblocks during the week and on weekends at various hours, including the afternoons.

Drinking and driving is never a smart decision and VicPD are urging the public to make alternative arrangements for transportation if they are planning to attend any office or private parties over the holidays.
