VicPD Locate Body of Missing 16 Year Old Girl 10-4609

Victoria BC – It is with deep sadness that the Victoria Police Department reports that it has recovered the body of Freya MILNE who was reported missing by her family on Tuesday.

By: Sgt. Grant Hamilton

Members of VicPD’s Marine Response Unit (MRU) located the girl in approximately 20 feet of water in Ross Bay just before 11:00 p.m. last night.

The Greater Victoria Integrated Dive Team pulled the body from the ocean just before 1:00 a.m. this morning and the Coroner’s Service is now investigating.

An exhaustive search began early yesterday morning after a note was located in the girl’s room at the family home in Fairfield. VicPD’s MRU immediately began searching the shoreline along Dallas Road while search and rescue personnel from the Provincial Emergency Program combed the area around Beacon Hill Park. The search efforts were also aided by a helicopter from the Canadian Coast Guard.

The family was notified late last night and is being supported by relatives.

VicPD extends its sympathies and condolences to the family.
