Update: Assault with a Weapon Investigation Continues

Victoria, BC –  Officers have one man in custody and are continuing their investigation into an assault with a weapon on October 3rd, that left a man with non-life threatening injuries.

Officers were called to the 800-block of Johnson Street shortly after 11:30 a.m. today after the report of an assault with a weapon. Upon arrival, officers located a man suffering from non-life threatening injuries. He was transported to hospital where he remains.

Victoria, BC – Missing person Richelle Ojala has been located and officers would like to thank the public for their assistance.

Officers are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Richelle Ojala.

Richelle is described as a 20-year-old Caucasian woman standing five feet, five inches tall and weighing about 125 lbs.

Victoria, BC - We need your help to locate a suspect in the neighbourhood of Sitkum Road who using a stolen iPhone to repeatedly call 9-1-1.

This suspect is tying up the emergency lines for legitimate 9-1-1 callers. We have received approximately 375 calls in 2 days.

The stolen device is a silver iPhone5 in a black rubber case.

Every effort is being made to locate this person and stop this from continuing.

Thirty-Six VicPD Officers Honoured By Lieutenant Governor in Government House Ceremony

Victoria, BC – Thirty-six VicPD officers were honoured by Her Honour Lieutenant Governor Judith Guichon in a ceremony at Government House this morning. Chief Constable Del Manak was joined by Victoria and Esquimalt Police Board member Maureen Shaw in introductory remarks as they welcomed the officers.

The awards were presented in two categories – the Police Exemplary Service Medal, followed by Chief and Deputy Chief Constables Commendations.

Have You Seen Missing Man Yannick Myers?

Victoria, BC – Officers are asking for your assistance as we work to locate missing man Yannick Myers.

Yannick is described as an 36-year-old Caucasian man standing five feet, nine inches tall, weighing about 175 lbs. Yannick has blue eyes, dirty blonde or light brown hair and often wears a full beard. Yannick also has a scar on his upper lip. Two photographs of Yannick are below.   

Investigation Continues Into Altercation Which Sent Man To Hospital

One man remains in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after a brief altercation on Saturday night.

Officers were called to the 900-block of Douglas Street just after 10 pm on Saturday, September 23rd. When they arrived, they found a man lying in the road, suffering what appeared to be life-threatening injuries. He was taken to hospital.

Witnesses reported that the man lying in the street had been in a physical altercation with another man. This other man then, reportedly, left the scene.
