Stolen Elephant Carving Leads To Massive Stolen Property Cache

Victoria, BC – Two Victoria men and a Victoria woman are facing charges after VicPD investigators, following up on an investigation into a grab-and-dash theft of a carved elephant, discovered a large cache of stolen property.

Officers were called to Hillside Mall on June 10th after a man was observed grabbing a carved wooden elephant from a store and fleeing. After gathering evidence, including surveillance footage, officers and members of VicPD’s Analysis and Intelligence Section recognized the suspect as a known prolific property offender.

UPDATE: Hours after informing the public about an 89-year-old couple's mobility scooter had been stolen in a break and enter to an underground parking garage, investigating officers are making arrangements for its quick return. Allways Towing contact VicPD after hearing about it to let us know that they had towed the scooter after it was reported abandoned.

Child’s Bike, Stolen From Vacationing Family, Recovered & Shipped Home By Officers

Victoria, BC – A visiting Alberta family who saw their young son’s bicycle stolen in the 900-block of Douglas Street last week will have a package waiting for them when they arrive home – the recovered bike.

Patrol and Community Services Division (CSD) officers began searching for the distinctive, blue and black, BMX-style bicycle after the child’s parents reported it stolen off their locked bike rack. A photo of the bike was posted to VicPD’s social media accounts as our officers searched for it.

Victoria, BC –The missing, 8 month pregnant woman who was the subject of an extensive, two-day long search, has been located by Vancouver Police. She is with them now and is safe.

Two In Custody After Gorge Waterway Shooting

Victoria, BC – Two people are in custody following an investigation after a man reported being shot while boarding a boat in the Gorge Waterway.

Shortly after midnight, officers and the BC Ambulance Service responded to the report from the victim. When they arrived at one of the docks off Jutland Road, officers and paramedics met the victim who was suffering non-life-threatening injuries. He was transported to hospital.

Victoria, BC – One man is in hospital, with potentially life-threatening injuries, after he was struck by a vehicle in the unit-block of Gorge Road East just after 5:30 p.m. tonight. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and also has been sent to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

VicPD's Patrol Section and our collision reconstruction team, are on scene investigating and the 2900-block of Irma Street will be closed for several hours.
