Fourth Annual National Prescription Drop-Off Day

Victoria, BC – VicPD is a proud supporter of the fourth annual National Prescription Drug Drop-Off Day.

On May 21, we are asking people to dispose of their unused, unwanted, or expired prescription and non-prescription drugs at their local drugstore. According to the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP), Canada is the world’s second largest per capita consumer of prescription opioids after the United States.

Investigators Continue Their Search For Witnesses to Suspicious Fire

Victoria, BC – VicPD Major Crime investigators continue their investigation into a suspicious fire at Toys “R” Us at Mayfair Mall on April 27.

Investigators would like to thank the numerous witnesses who have come forward to speak with investigators. There are still, however, several witnesses with whom police have yet to speak.  Pictures of these potential witnesses are attached.

Seven Honoured With VicPD’s Civic Service Award

VicPD’s Civic Service Award added seven new recipients yesterday. Included in this honour group are citizens who intervened in assaults and fires, a man who pulled an elderly woman from the waters off Dallas Road, a military police member who came to the assistance of one of our officers in arresting a suspect and a member of our own 911 Communications Centre Staff, who was instrumental in locating and returning a small family’s only method of transportation – a unique bicycle. Also honoured was a quick-thinking assistant manager, who fought a fire in a local store that’s origin remains under investigation.

Witnesses & Victims Sought After Purse Thief Arrested

Victoria, BC – VicPD investigators are seeking both witnesses and victims after the arrest of an alleged prolific purse-snatcher in Victoria’s downtown. Our investigation has led officers to believe that there may be several victims in the community who have not yet reported their losses to police. Additionally, officers also believe that there are witnesses to several of these incidents who have not yet come forward.

Search for Missing Man has Ended

Victoria, BC – VicPD Missing Person investigators have ended their search for missing 23-year-old Victoria man, Jordan Hanson.

The Comox RCMP located Jordan deceased on May 7th at Mount Washington. The death is not considered suspicious and the BC Coroner Service continues their investigation.

Our thoughts are with Jordan’s family during this difficult time.

Missing Woman Located Safely After Extensive Investigation & Search

Victoria, BC – Sylvie Tremblay, a 52-year-old Victoria woman who was the subject of two missing person’s alerts, has been located after an extensive, multi-day investigation. Investigators located Tremblay and established that she is safe after a search that involved a number of officers and several VicPD units. A patrol officer found the missing woman at a camp she had set up on a small island in the Victoria area that is only accessible during certain tides.

Victoria, BC – Officers are asking for your help in identifying a young man who is person of interest in an investigation following a March 17th, 2016 incident. The young man is described as a Caucasian male, aged 19 to 20 years old, standing 6’ 2” to 6’3” tall with dark hair.

Youth For Change & Inclusion Camp Set To Start

Victoria, BC –90 middle and high school students will join 11 teachers and 9 police officers at this year’s Youth for Change and Inclusion (YCI). The camp, which takes place at Camp Pringle on the shores of Shawnigan Lake from May 4th through May 7th will introduce youth from Victoria, Saanich, Vancouver, Ladysmith and Nanaimo to local, national and global issues. This year marks the 13th year that YCI has taken place.
