Deputy Chief Constables Steve Ing and Del Manak Invested Into The Order of Merit of The Police Forces

Victoria, BC – His Excellency, the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada invested VicPD’s two Deputy Chief Constables, Steve Ing and Del Manak into Canada’s Order of Merit of the Police Forces at a Rideau Hall ceremony on Friday, September 18th, 2015.

With more than 51 years of service between the two of them VicPD’s two Deputy Chief Constables conduct the day-to-day running of the Department, from operations to administration respectively.

My name is Matt Rutherford and I am honoured to be apart of the 2015 Canadian Cancer Society, Cops for Cancer, Tour de Rock team. I have been a police officer with the Victoria Police Department for the past 4 years.

In today’s society it is safe to say that, whether directly or indirectly, everyone has been affected by cancer. Cancer has affected my life and the lives of those in my family with my dad and mother-in-law being diagnosed in 2010. Our family was blessed, as both my father and mother-in-law are currently cancer free.

VIIMCU Investigating Suspicious Death of 18-month-old

Victoria, BC – The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit and VicPD investigators are investigating the suspicious death of an 18-month-old girl in the 1200-block of Vista Heights.

Patrol members were called to a residence just before 6:00 a.m. this morning to check on the welfare of the persons there. They discovered the child, an 18-month-old Victoria girl, who succumbed despite efforts to resuscitate her.  The girl’s mother was taken to hospital.

Victoria, BC – Chief Constable Frank Elsner is making a special appeal to local Chinese members of our community as VicPD Financial Crimes Section Detectives investigate a local occurrence of the “blessing scam” that cost a Victoria resident over $50,000.
