Victoria, BC – VicPD Major Crime Detectives are investigating after a collision has resulted in the death of a 36-year old Victoria man.
At around 5:50 p.m. on Monday night, officers responded to a report of a collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle at Hillside Avenue at Higgins Street.
Victoria, BC – Officers are looking to speak with the victim of an alleged assault with a weapon reported to have occurred June 18th.
Witnesses called 911 to report that a man had pepper-sprayed a woman in area of Broad and Johnson streets just before 12:00 noon.
Victoria, BC – Officers are investigating the theft of the tiger pelt from the former Bengal Lounge at the Fairmont Empress Hotel. The tiger pelt, which has hung in the room since the 1990s, was stolen between 3:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14th. Staff remain hopeful for the tiger’s safe return.
As a result of continued public interest in calls for police service in and around the “Tent City” area, this report provides information on calls for police service by month and call type in the area of “Tent City.”
The “Tent City” area is defined using an approximate radius of three blocks, with the BC Courthouse greenspace at the centre. While this data reflects calls for service in the noted area, it does not necessarily mean that all of the calls are related to the “Tent City” encampment.

Victoria, BC – The Independent Investigations Office of BC released its report today on the officer-involved fatal shooting that occurred in the 200-block of Dallas Road on November 1st, 2014. In the report, the IIO’s Chief Civilian Director, Richard Rosenthal, concluded that “I do not consider that any police officer may have committed an offence under any enactment.”
Victoria, BC – Actors from around the world and VicPD officers have teamed up for “Police and Diverse Communities”, a series of workshops using ground-breaking Transformational Theatre techniques to explore the dialogue between immigrants and police. The goal of theses workshops are to build mutual trust and reduce discrimination.
