Looking For Witnesses to Suspicious Fire

Victoria, BC – VicPD Major Crime Detectives along with the Victoria Fire Investigators continue their investigation into a suspicious fire at Toys R Us.

On April 27th, VicPD and the Victoria Fire Department attended Toys R Us shortly after 2:00 p.m. for the report of a fire. Upon arrival, police and the fire department were able to evacuate the mall and nobody was injured although there was significant damage to the store.

Victoria, BC – Officers, including VicPD’s Graffiti Coordinator Cst. Franco Bruschetta, are asking for your help in identifying two young men believed to be responsible for over a dozen “taggings” of businesses in downtown Victoria. 

Officers are looking to identify and speak with the men in the attached video.  The video was taken just prior to the men allegedly “tagging” property in the downtown core on April 25th .  The investigation has pointed to the same two individual’s being involved in a number of other incidents of vandalism. 

DIY Street Party Update

As you may be aware, there is an event called the “DIY Street Party” planned for Centennial Square on Friday, April 22nd that has been posted on Facebook. The event organizers have invited 8,400 people, and 3,200 have posted that that they plan to attend. This event has not yet been approved by the City, as no permit application was made. As a result, there is no site security plan, which is required to ensure everyone’s safety.

The Victoria and Esquimalt Police Board has released the Department’s 2015 Annual Report, with an emphasis on community engagement that helps in building healthy communities. This approach helped craft the Department’s Strategic Plan and is key to the Department’s direction moving forward.

Woman Arrested In 2015 Homicide

Victoria, BC – The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU), with the assistance of VicPD investigators and the Westshore RCMP, made an arrest in a 2015 homicide yesterday.

On September 16th, 2015, VicPD patrol members were called to a residence just before 6 a.m. to check on the welfare of the persons there. They discovered an 18-month-old Victoria girl, who succumbed despite efforts to resuscitate her. The girl’s mother was also taken to hospital.

Witness Sought After Building Collision

Victoria, BC – VicPD officers continue their investigation into a collision where a vehicle crashed into a building.

Just after 6:30 a.m. yesterday, VicPD members were called to the 0-block of Boyd Street after the report of a single vehicle collision. Initial reports indicate that a vehicle crashed into an apartment building causing damage to the front doors. The lone driver was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Missing Woman Found Safe
