VicPD Investigating Suspicious Occurrence

Victoria, BC– VicPD Investigative Services Detectives are investigating the report of the discovery of a shell casing in the 1100-block of Government Street.

VicPD officers were called to a building in the 1100-block of Government Street at approximately 5:30 a.m. after staff located what appeared to be a shell casing on one of the floors.

VicPD officers searched the floor to ensure the welfare of the guests. There are no known injuries.

One In Custody In Sexual Assault Investigation

Victoria BC – One person has been arrested as VicPD officers investigate a reported sexual assault that occurred last night.

Officers were called to the 2100-block of Quadra Street shortly after 11 p.m. for a reported sexual assault. As a result of the investigation, one individual was arrested. That person remains in custody and investigators believe there is no risk to the public at this time. 

Our investigation is ongoing.

VicPD Investigating Armed Robbery at Marijuana Dispensary

Victoria BC – VicPD detectives are investigating the report of a robbery that occurred in the 1700-block of Cook Street on Tuesday evening.

VicPD officers were called for a robbery at the Ocean Grown Medicinal Dispensary at approximately 8:35 p.m. The suspects fled in a vehicle. VicPD officers gave chase, but were unable to locate the suspects.

Man In Custody After Climbing Bay Centre Building

Victoria, BC – One man is in custody after being arrested by Patrol officers for climbing onto the roof of the Bay Centre this morning.

Calls came into our 911 Communications Centre just before 8:30 a.m. reporting that a nude man climbing on the roof of the Bay Centre at 1150 Douglas Street. Our 911 Comms Centre contacted the Victoria Fire Department and the BC Ambulance Service for their assistance, while our officers were on their way.

VicPD Appealing for Wire Theft Witnesses

Victoria, BC – VicPD officers are asking for your help in locating potential suspects to a wire theft that occurred early Tuesday morning.

VicPD officers attended the 1000-block of Craigflower Road to discover that a section of Shaw cable line was damaged after unknown persons stole approximately 20 metres of cable belonging to Telus. An initial review of damage indicates that the cost to replace the line could approach $20,000.

VicPD Announces New Spokesperson and Social Media Officer

Victoria, BC – VicPD is pleased to announce that Cst. Matt Rutherford has been appointed as the next VicPD spokesperson and social media officer. Cst. Rutherford comes to the position after four years of service within the Patrol Section and the Traffic Section, where he managed the @vicpdtraffic Twitter account. Most recently, he completed the Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock, helping raise thousands of dollars for pediatric cancer research.

Victoria, BC – VicPD officers are thanking the public for their help in locating missing man Thomas McMullen.

McMullen, who was the subject of a missing persons alert late yesterday afternoon was located this morning. He is safe and with officers who are working to connect him with his family.
