UPDATE | VIIMCU Search of Saanich Property Enters Third Day

Victoria BC – The search for evidence in the missing persons case of Dana McKellar continues today.

Utilizing ground penetrating radar and electromagnetic mapping technologies, as well as experts in clandestine grave identification and an RCMP helicopter that is being used for aerial surveillance and photography, VicPD, Saanich PD and RCMP officers continue their search of the property.

Victoria BC – VicPD and the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit are launching an extensive search of a rural Saanich property with the goal of locating key evidence in the search for Dana McKellar.

McKellar was reported missing to VicPD in September of last year. After a comprehensive investigation, VIIMCU was brought on board to lead the investigation.

VicPD Community Ambassador Program Launch on Fairmont Empress Front Lawn

Chief Elsner, Esquimalt Mayor Barb Desjardins, Victoria Mayor Lisa Helps, Tourism Victoria CEO and President Paul Nursey and Don Fennerty, General Manager of Fairmont Empress Hotel marked the start of the VicPD Community Ambassador Program today on the Fairmont Empress Lawn. Both Mayors, who are also co-chairs of the Victoria and Esquimalt Police Boards, spoke to the importance of volunteers in both telling the history of our communities and of charting our futures.

Victoria BC –VicPD would like to invite you to the official public launch of the VicPD Community Ambassador Program and Summer Action Plan on Wednesday, May 27th on the front lawn of the historic Fairmont Empress Hotel.

The VicPD Community Ambassador program is a new public outreach initiative from VicPD whose aim is to entertain and educate tourists and residents as well as promote Victoria and Esquimalt as a friendly, welcoming places to live, work, and play.

LOCATED|Missing Man Simon Hoar

Victoria, BC – Missing Victoria man Simon Hoar was located a few short hours after VicPD investigators issued an alert asking the public to be on the look out for him.

Hoar was located in Calgary by VicPD Detectives who worked with officers from the Calgary Police Service to contact Hoar and bring him to hospital.

Our detectives would like to thank the public for their help in sharing Hoar’s information and helping locate him safely.

LOCATED SAFE | Missing Man Delmer Esau

Victoria, BC – Missing Victoria man 39-year-old Delmer Esau has been located safely.

Officers learned that Esau was located by Vancouver Police officers, who were able to identify him and then transported him to hospital for treatment. Esau requires medication for his mental health and was the subject of a missing person notification, and an updated notification last week.

Investigators on the file thanked the public for their role in sharing Esau’s information.
