PUBLIC ALERT – Attempted “Canada Revenue Agency” scam leaves woman in tears

Victoria, BC – VicPD Fraud detectives, Patrol officers, 911 Communications Centre Operators and Crime Prevention staff all are urging the public to be vigilant after a sharp increase in the number of reports of the “Canada Revenue Agency” scam over the last few days.

Calls have flooded the VicPD 911 Communications Centre and several citizens have attended our Caledonia Headquarters, traumatized, and in some cases – in an attempt to turn themselves in for what they believed to be non-payment of their taxes.

Missing Man Located Safely Thanks To Public Tip

Victoria, BC – James Phillips, a Victoria man reported missing and the subject of VicPD notification just over two hours ago, has been located safely.

Phillips was spotted by a member of the public who took note of him based on our alert. That member of the public contacted officers who located Phillips and took him into custody. Phillips is now being transported to hospital for treatment and support.

Victoria, BC  – Alaska Airlines, Victoria’s Fairmont Empress Hotel, Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, the Royal Jubilee Hospital and Commissionaires BC  and VicPD teamed up yesterday to locate a missing 65-year-old Buffalo New York woman and return her home.

VicPD Detectives Looking for Witnesses to Stabbing

Victoria BC – VicPD Detectives are looking for witnesses to a late-night stabbing that occurred last weekend.

Officers were called to the 1100-block of Wharf Street just after midnight on Sunday for reports of a man who had been stabbed. They arrived to find the 32-year-old Saanich man with a stab wound to his side. Thankfully, staff at Darcy’s Pub were alerted and started first aid.

The victim was transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
