Today Marks the 24th Anniversary of Michael Dunahee’s Disappearance

Victoria BC – Today marks the 24th anniversary of the disappearance of Michael Dunahee.

Michael Dunahee went missing from Blanshard Elementary School on March 24th, 1991.  Michael was last seen around 12:30 p.m. in the area of the school playground. He was 4-years-old at the time.

Michael’s disappearance spawned one of the largest police investigations in Canadian history, and today the case remains an active investigation.

Daniel Penney Arrested for Murder of Caitlin Walton

Victoria BC – Daniel Penney, a 51-year-old Victoria man, has been arrested by the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit and VicPD for the murder of Caitlin Walton.

VicPD officers were requested to attend the residence in the 800-block of Queens Avenue on Friday night by the West Shore RCMP as they were investigating the attempted suicide of her common-law partner, Penney. Inside the residence, they found Walton deceased.

VicPD and VIIMCU Release Identity in Suspicious Death

Victoria, BC – The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit and VicPD detectives have released the identity of the Victoria woman discovered deceased at a residence in the 800-block of Queens Avenue on Friday.

Mary Caitlin Walton, who went by the name Caitlin Walton, was found by officers at approximately 5 p.m. on Friday, March 13th. Walton was 46 years old.

VicPD and VIIMCU Investigate Suspicious Death

Victoria BC – The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit and VicPD Detectives are investigating a suspicious death that was reported last night.

Officers arrived at a residence in the 800-block of Queens Avenue last night at approximately 5 p.m. Inside they discovered the body of a 46-year-old Victoria woman.

The house, and a section of the 800-block of Queens Avenue were cordoned off as officers investigated.

The investigation continues as officers try to determine what occurred.

Sharp-Eyed Citizen and Fleet-Footed Cop Nab Well-Known Criminal

Victoria BC – A sharp-eyed citizen and a fleet-footed VicPD officer are being credited with nabbing a well-known property thief earlier this week.

At approximately 7 p.m. on Sunday, officers were called to the 900-block of Yates Street after the caller spotted her boyfriend’s stolen bike.  She had followed the man on the bike from the 900-block of Pandora Avenue.

VicPD Traffic Officers Looking for Driver in Pedestrian Collision

Victoria BC – VicPD Traffic officers are looking to identify a driver after a pedestrian was struck in a marked crosswalk on Wednesday, March 4th.

At approximately 10:45 a.m. the victim was walking in a marked crosswalk at Broad Street and Pandora Avenue when he was struck by a driver in a black BMW. The driver of the BMW immediately stopped and, along with witnesses, offered assistance to the victim. The driver offered the victim a ride home and the pair departed the scene.

VicPD’s Civic Service Award Presented to Sailors for Life Saving Actions

Victoria BC – Today, VicPD’s Acting Chief Steve Ing presented two VicPD Civic Service Awards to members of the Royal Canadian Navy for their part in saving a distraught man’s life.

On January 8th, while walking in the James Bay neighbourhood, the two sailors passed a person who was tinkering with their vehicle. The pair initially thought nothing of it.

Four Charged After Traffic Stop Nets Drugs, Guns and Other Weapons

Victoria BC – An observant K9 officer, her dog, and patrol members are being credited with getting four potentially dangerous criminals off the street after a traffic stop on Monday morning.

The officer was watching an area in James Bay as there had been recent incidents of break and enters. While she and her K9 partner were there, she noticed a car circling the neighbourhood with its headlights out.
