Two Determined Cops Return Five Bikes, Worth over $5000, in Four Days.

Victoria BC – Two determined VicPD officers are receiving kudos for good work after returning five stolen bikes, with a total value of over $5000, to their rightful owners in four days.

Starting on January 26th until the end of their shift on January 31st, the two officers were able to locate the five bikes, all during separate incidents. The bikes were seized and, through detailed investigation, the rightful owners were found.

VicPD Bids Farewell to Eight Senior Members

Victoria BC – Last night at the VicPD Retirement and Recognition ceremony, VicPD bid farewell to eight senior members from the department who are retiring at the end of the month.

The eight members have served the communities of Victoria and Esquimalt as part of VicPD with distinction. Many of the officers have come to VicPD from other departments throughout Canada including the Ottawa Police Service, Vancouver Police Department and the RCMP.

One Call from Concern Citizen Nets Two Impaired Drivers

Victoria BC – VicPD officers are crediting a local citizen for helping net two impaired drivers after reporting an erratic driver late last Friday night.

Officers received a call at approximately 11 p.m. on Friday, January 22 from a concerned citizen who noticed a vehicle traveling east on Esquimalt Road and hitting the curb and running into bushes along the street.

Chief Elsner to Present VicPD Business Survey Results

Victoria, BC – VicPD’s Chief Constable Frank Elsner and the Downtown Victoria Business Association (DVBA) are partnered to present the VicPD Business Survey results in Centre Court at the Bay Centre.

Serving as the second round of consultations done in Victoria and Esquimalt, the VicPD Business Survey asked businesses in these communities for feedback on topics ranging from service satisfaction to how VicPD can help the business community.

One Man in Custody after Serious Assault

Victoria BC – One man is in custody after a serious assault and forcible confinement that occurred on Saturday, January 24th.

In the early afternoon, VicPD was called to the 100-block of Gorge Road East for a report of a badly injured woman who was found by neighbours in a hallway at an apartment building. Officers arrived to find the victim with what appeared to be significant injuries. She was rushed to hospital by the Provincial Ambulance Service.

VicPD’s Newest Constable To Be Sworn In

Victoria, BC – Chief Frank Elsner will join Victoria and Esquimalt Police Board Co-Chair and Esquimalt Mayor Barbara Desjardins in welcoming VicPD’s newest constable Trevor Sadownick on Thursday, January 22, 2015.

Cst. Sadownick joins VicPD after 12 years with the Calgary Police Service. He has been a Patrol member and Acting Sergeant, an Acting Detective in the General Investigative Unit, a specialty munitions operator in the Public Safety Unit, a member of the Marine Unit, and a Community Resource Officer.

Images Released In Search for James Bay Bank Robber

Victoria, BC – VicPD investigators are releasing images in the search for a man who robbed the James Bay Bank of Montreal.

Officers responded to the James Bay Bank of Montreal location around noon on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 for reports of a robbery. Investigation revealed that the male approached a teller and demanded cash. He then fled with an undisclosed amount of money.
