Victoria BC – A high number of abandoned 911-calls are continuing to plague VicPD’s Communication Centre.

During the last 14 hours, between 5:30 p.m. last night and 7:30 a.m. this morning, VicPD’s Communications Centre had to answer, trace, and ensure the safety of 21 people when their abandoned calls were received.

Victoria BC – VicPD Traffic section was busy last week with a project aimed at educating cyclists about their responsibilities under B.C.’s Motor Vehicle Act.

Over two days last week officers patrolled the downtown core and intervened when unsafe cycling was noted. Throughout the week officers wrote numerous tickets and issued several verbal and written warnings.

Officers hunting suspects after home invasion leaves family suffering from pepper spray

File #     14-36416Date:     Monday, August 18, 2014 Victoria, BC – VicPD detectives are looking for four men after a home invasion left a five-year-old boy and his parents suffering from the effects of pepper spray.Officers responded to a townhouse in the 300-block of Robert Street just after 4 a.m. on the morning of Saturday, August 16th after the victims awoke to masked men kicking their way into the home. The father of the family confronted the assailants and was pepper sprayed in the face.

Victoria BC – Today is National Peacekeepers’ day in Canada, and it is a day to remember all Canadian Peacekeepers who have, or are currently serving in peacekeeping operations throughout the world.

VicPD has been fortunate to have two current officers who have been deployed as United Nations Peacekeepers and are currently serving Victoria and Esquimalt.

It is currently five o’clock in the morning and I have just been woken up by my partner crying.  If this were different circumstances it would be cause for alarm; however, this is my perfect reality. My partner is crying as he needs to go outside to relieve himself. No, I didn’t fall asleep on a night shift to be awoken by human crying.  This is the oh so familiar sound of a German Shepherd whining.  This is a day off of work for me, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I am a K9 handler with the Victoria Police Department and have been since September 2013.
