UPDATE | Two In Custody After Armed Robbery Of Marijuana Storefront

Victoria, BC – Two men are now in custody as VicPD Detectives continue our investigation into an armed robbery of a marijuana storefront that occurred in the 3100-block of Harriet Street on Tuesday night.

VicPD officers were called to the marijuana storefront for a report of a robbery with a firearm at approximately 7:30 p.m. A stolen grey BMW 335i associated with the robbery was recovered on Wednesday and man arrested.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.

VicPD to Use Temporary Cameras on Canada Day

While no specific threat has been identified for the Canada 150 celebrations in Victoria, the national threat level remains at “Medium”.  Therefore you may notice an increase in VicPD officers in the downtown core over the next couple of days as well as additional security measures, including more visibly armed officers. The additional measures will help us maintain safety for everyone, and we are looking forward to this family-friendly event.

Officers Searching for Suspect in Pepper Spraying

Victoria, BC – Officers are searching for a suspect after a random man was pepper sprayed outside of the Bay Center this morning.

 

VicPD officers were called at 9:45 a.m. after the report of an assault with a weapon. Officers quickly attended the area and learned that a man chased a couple into the Bay Center. While chasing that couple, the suspect then pepper spray another random bystander. The pepper spray then began affecting people nearby.

LATEST UPDATE | The stolen grey BMW 335i has been recovered and the driver of said vehicle arrested for possession of stolen property after a brief foot chase. However, at this time our search for the robbery suspects is on-going.

Do You Know This Man? Suspect Sought In Voyeurism Investigation

Victoria, BC – Special Victims Unit detectives are asking for your help as they seek to identify the suspect in a voyeurism incident that took place at Hillside Mall on June 10th, 2017.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, in his late 40’s to 50’s with a medium build. The suspect has greying hair, and grey and white goatee. At the time of the incident the suspect was wearing a distinctive “driving” style cap, and a black jacket with green stripes on the arms. A photograph of the suspect is below.

Yesterday’s Police Presence at Fisherman’s Wharf

Victoria, BC – Shortly after 4:00pm yesterday, VicPD members attended Fisherman’s Wharf for the report of shots fired.

 

Out of an abundance of caution, the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team was utilized along with VicPD K9 and the Crisis Negotiators. Officers were able to determine what vessel the man was aboard and quickly detained him without incident. There were no injuries.

 

A search didn’t reveal any evidence that it was in fact a gunshot and the man was released a short time later without charges.

 

Twenty-Three New Charges in Relation to Historical Sexual Assaults

Victoria, BC – Harry Charles Sadd faces twenty-three new charges in relation to a series of historical sexual assaults after multiple victims came forward to speak with investigators following the announcement of Sadd’s arrest in August of last year. Sadd was arrested on these new charges yesterday.

UPDATE | Darsheen Doreen Gill Located Safely By Officers And Community Partners

Victoria, BC – Darsheen Doreen Gill, who was the subject of a missing person alert, has been located safely.

After a search lasting several days, Darsheen was located by officers working in concert with a community partner and brought to medical treatment. Officers are thanking our community partners, members of the media and members of the public for their assistance in helping locate this missing woman.
