Capital Region Police Boards Meet to Address Common Issues

Date:   Dec 3, 2015

Victoria BC – Representatives from the Central Saanich, Oak Bay, Saanich, and Victoria and Esquimalt police boards met yesterday on common issues that affect all police boards in the capital region.

The discussion focused on integrated policing. Topics included how integrated police units could be improved to enhance public safety and the role of oversight for such units.

A key next step for the working group is to determine if other communities, including those in RCMP jurisdictions, would be interested in joining the working group to explore topics that could offer opportunities for better cooperation amongst law enforcement agencies.

The meeting follows a successful inaugural gathering of the four municipal police boards on June 12th.
