While no specific threat has been identified for the Canada 150 celebrations in Victoria, the national threat level remains at “Medium”.  Therefore you may notice an increase in VicPD officers in the downtown core over the next couple of days as well as additional security measures, including more visibly armed officers. The additional measures will help us maintain safety for everyone, and we are looking forward to this family-friendly event.

VicPD will be deploying temporary cameras on June 30th and July 1st  in specific downtown Victoria locations to support our operations to ensure public safety during this family-friendly event. On June 30th, the cameras will be on from 4:00 p.m until 11:00 p.m. and on July 1st from 9:00 am until midnight.  We’re doing so in line with BC Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. The cameras will be taken down following the event. For those who have questions or concerns regarding our use of cameras, please email [email protected]
