VicPD Issue Public Notification for Larry Takahashi

Victoria BC – VicPD is issuing a public notification for Larry Takahashi, a 61-year-old convicted sexual offender, who will be residing in a half-way house in Victoria.

The warning is being issued as VicPD believes that Takahashi poses a significant risk of harm to adult and teenage girls.

Takahashi is a Federal Offender currently serving three life sentences following his convictions for aggravated assault, rape (X4), disguise with intent (X6), sexual assault with weapon, aggravated sexual assault and forcible confinement which all occurred in Edmonton, Alberta.  He has a history of covertly entering residences and apartment buildings and sexually assaulting adult females while wearing a disguise.

Takahashi is currently on an Unescorted Temporary Absence and will be residing in a half-way house in Victoria until December 24th, 2013.  Takahashi will return to custody on that date with the decision for future releases in the hands of Corrections Canada.

Takahashi must abide by various conditions of his release including the following:

1) Must not consume any alcohol or other intoxicants.

2) Must report all interactions with females immediately to his parole officer

3) Must reside in Victoria and cannot travel north of the Malahat.

If Takahashi is observed in violation of any of the above noted conditions, please do not approach him.  Contact your local police agency immediately.

VicPD had no role in the decision to release Takahashi, nor do we have any input in to where he would live.

Although VicPD has serious concerns whenever high-risk offenders are released into our community we are committed to working with our community partners and the public in order to monitor Takahashi as he completes the remainder of his sentence.

If you have any additional information about Mr. Takahashi please contact Detective Shawn Robson at
