VicPD’s Internet Child Exploitation Investigators arrest one in Toronto Police Service’s ‘Project Spade’

Victoria BC – VicPD’s Internet Child Exploitation investigators charged a Victoria man as part of Toronto Police Service’s international child exploitation investigation “Project Spade”

Officers were made aware of the offender in our area in February of last year and initiated a parallel investigation using information provided by the RCMP’s National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre and the Toronto Police Service.

A search warrant was executed at a residence in Victoria in May of 2012, where officers found a significant amount of evidence to confirm the information provided during “Project Spade”.

It is alleged that the evidence recovered was directly related to the investigation into the azovfilms(dot)com website.  This was the website that was the target of the TPS’s project.

The suspect, a man known to police, who had a history of sexual offences from another jurisdiction, has been charged with Possession of Child pornography.

For information on ‘Project Spade’ please see the Toronto Police Service’s news release at: http://www.torontopolice.on.ca/newsreleases/pdfs/27981.pdf
