VicPD’s 40 Communication staff handled nearly 60,000 calls last year.  In 2014 alone, they received 32,767 911 calls, and of those, 6,575 were abandoned 911 calls.

“The first point of contact between the public and VicPD is often our communications staff,” said VicPD Chief Constable Frank Elsner. “The stories they are sharing this week are heartwarming, thought-provoking, and at times poignant. We’re grateful to have these dedicated staff members working with us.”
